Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Neonatal Physician Assistant (PA)
Shift: Full time; Rotating
Location: University of Maryland Medical Center
UMMC is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The Children’s Hospital at UMMC is a comprehensive division offering services across the spectrum of acute care. It includes a pediatric ED, pediatric cardiac ICU, pediatric ICU & progressive care unit, a complex labor and delivery unit, a complement of ambulatory care services, and a 37,000 square foot, 52-bed NICU.
Our facility offers a 37,000 square feet Level IV NICU, a specialized transport team, state of the art technologies in delivery rooms, and world class high-risk OB, Neonatology, and Subspecialty teams.
APPs provide 24/7 coverage for NICU patients. Responsibilities include daily patient management, leadership, and resource support for the provider team, and education for nursing, medical staff, and families. Medical plans and decisions are made with attending physicians using evidence-based interventions and best practices.
APPs also support the neonatal transport team through the Maryland Regional Neonatal Transport Program (MRNTP) and participate in professional practice activities. Schedule accommodations will be made as needed.
Qualifications
Completed an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program and successful NNP/PA Certification.
NCC for NNPs is required.
NCCPA for PAs is required.
Solid clinical experience, excellent communication skills, and ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
Maryland licensure or eligibility is required.
Minimum of two (2) years of neonatal nursing experience for NNP candidates.
Minimum of two (2) years of work in a NICU/FTN for PA candidates or completion of Neonatal PA Residency/Fellowship.
New graduate Neonatal NPs are encouraged to apply.
