SUMMARY:
The HR Generalist supports all aspects of human resources within a plant environment, including employee and labor relations, talent acquisition, compliance, performance management, and employee engagement. This role partners with leadership to foster a positive workplace culture, ensure adherence to HR policies and labor agreements, and drive operational excellence through data-driven decisions. The HR Generalist also plays a key role in maintaining HRIS systems, supporting onboarding, handling disciplinary matters, and promoting employee wellness initiatives. The HR Generalist exemplifies the Daily’s PACT values and demonstrates an ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. In the absence of the HR Manager, this position assumes HR leadership responsibilities and provides strategic support to plant and corporate teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

HR Tasks: Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Employee Relations: Provides guidance on conflict resolution and disciplinary actions. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations under the guidance of the HR Manager. Escalates complex and/or sensitive matters to HR Manager.
Labor Relations: Supports a positive working environment with the union in the plant environment. Addresses union-related concerns and answers questions within established practices from leadership related to the CBA. Administers job bidding process.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding: Location based: Partners with Recruiter on local recruitment efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, and selecting candidates for various positions. Assists with onboarding new hires.
Compliance and Risk Management: Stays updated on HR Trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
Data Management and Analysis: Utilizes HRIS systems to maintain accurate employee records and generate reports used for HR metrics analysis. Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
Employee Engagement Initiatives: Support initiatives to foster a positive work environment, promote employee engagement, and enhance overall employee satisfaction. Collaborate and/or organize events, recognitions programs, and wellness initiatives to reinforce company culture and values.
HR LEADERSHIP:
Assumes responsibility in the absence of the HR Manager. Collaborates with plant management and corporate leadership to make informed decisions aligned with organization objectives.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree or higher, or 3+ years of related experience in Human Resources with 1+ years of plant environment experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources. SHRM or PHR Certification preferred but not required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to effectively communicate in English including reading, writing, and speaking. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, candidates, and the public. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to perform necessary calculations for completion of summary of HRIS data.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to operate ethically to protect the interests of the company and its employees.
DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Frequent interaction and discussion with employees and supervisors. Makes decisions within established guidelines and must consult with HR Manager on decisions that may deviate from those guidelines.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic computer skills and knowledge of standard programs including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and HRIS including data entry, reporting and query procedures. Must be adaptable to change, organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and a professional demeanor.
CONFIDENTIALITY:
This position is required to handle and process confidential and sensitive information involving employee wages, benefits, and disciplinary actions and provides support in other HR functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to work sitting down using a computer for up to 10 hours a day with periodic breaks and must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. of office supplies.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, most of their time will be spent in an office setting. They will occasionally go into production areas and while on the production floor be exposed to moving mechanical parts and to wet, cold and/or humid conditions as well as loud noises (above 85 dBA). Hearing protection and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when on the production floor. Must be able to follow all GMP’s while on the production floor.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled.
