Are you a seasoned business development leader with a background in construction sales into the energy sector? We’re hiring a Director of Business Development to drive growth across Florida by targeting large utility clients like Florida Power & Light and Duke Energy. This is a remote role with heavy in-state travel and occasional in-office meetings in the Orlando area.
What You’ll Do
Identify and close new business opportunities in the electrical power construction space.
Build and grow relationships with large utilities, EMCs, and data center developers.
Lead the development of proposals, RFPs, and client presentations.
Collaborate with estimating, engineering, and operations teams to support pre-construction efforts.
Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and client meetings across Florida.
Track market trends and competitor activity to refine sales strategies.
Maintain CRM systems and report on pipeline performance.
Drive contract negotiations and ensure smooth project handoffs.
What We’re Looking For
7+ years of business development or sales experience in electrical construction or utility infrastructure.
Proven success selling to large power companies (e.g., Florida Power & Light, Duke Energy).
Strong understanding of transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Self-starter with the ability to travel extensively across Florida.
Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and proposal development tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience selling into data center developers or hyperscale infrastructure clients.
Based near Orlando or Melbourne, though not required.
