Overview Join Microsoft’s US Public Sector Industries DIB Team—where mission meets innovation. The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Operating Unit (OU) is a newly formed team with a bold mission: to consolidate, simplify, and accelerate Microsoft’s presence across the DIB landscape. This network includes over 100,000 organizations in manufacturing, aviation, cybersecurity, and more, supporting Federal Agencies including the U.S. Department of Defense and other mission-based agencies. Our team empowers these contractors throughout their digital transformation journey—from envisioning new possibilities to delivering secure, scalable solutions that drive mission outcomes, elevate customer experience, and fuel Microsoft’s growth.

The DIB OU will directly manage and accelerate strategic and major DIB accounts across Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) Americas, while enabling Defense Innovation growth across other OUs. We’re building new relationships, transforming legacy operations, and helping our customers modernize with confidence.

Security Solution Engineer

As a Security Solution Engineer (SE), you will play a pivotal role in driving security across every stage of the development lifecycle. This opportunity will accelerate your career growth, develop deep business acumen, hone your technical skills, and make you adept at solution design and deployment. As a trusted technical advisor, you’ll guide customers through secure, scalable solution design, influence technical decisions, and accelerate AI applications and agents into their development workflows. Responsibilities

Drive technical sales with decision makers using demos and PoCs to influence solution design and enable production deployments.

Lead hands-on engagements—hackathons, code-with sessions, and architecture workshops—to accelerate adoption of Microsoft’s developer tools and cloud platforms.

Build trusted relationships with developers and platform leads, co-designing secure, scalable architectures and solutions.

Resolve technical blockers and objections, collaborating with engineering to share insights and improve products.

Maintain deep technical understanding of cloud security architectures and Microsoft security offerings (M365 Defender, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel).

Develop strategies and recommendations to improve the client’s security posture, shape technical win plans, and tailor Microsoft messaging to security opportunities. Enhance team capabilities for extended detection and response (XDR), zero trust, and cloud security, and develop differentiated competitive strategies for Microsoft Security for assigned customers.

Represent Microsoft through thought leadership in developer communities and customer forums.

Qualifications Required/minimum qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience

OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience

OR 5+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience

OR equivalent experience

Experience designing and implementing Information Security, Privacy and Information Governance solutions leveraging Microsoft Entra, Defender, Sentinel, Priva, Purview, or related platforms

Working knowledge of Security Development Lifecycle and integrating security into the DevOps lifecycle in an enterprise environment

Working knowledge of Zero Trust principles, threat modeling, security posture management, and device/workload protection

Experience with Microsoft security solutions (M365 Defender, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel) or related technologies (e.g., Prisma Cloud, CrowdStrike, Proofpoint, Splunk)

Other Requirements

Cloud Screening: candidates must pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening (recurring bi-annually).

Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: this position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to government-related requirements.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Security Clearance.

Proven ability to lead technical engagements (e.g., hackathons, PoCs) that drive production-scale outcomes.

6+ years technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery experience, or related

4+ years experience with cloud/hybrid/on-premises infrastructure and architecture design

Relevant certifications (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Architect, Cloud Platform Technologies, Information Security, Architecture)

Compensation Security Solution Engineer IC4 – The typical base pay range across the U.S. is USD 106,400 – 203,600 per year. Some locations (e.g., San Francisco Bay Area, New York City metro) have a different range: USD 137,600 – 222,600 per year.
