Senior Platform Engineer (Linux, Compute, Storage) | Elite Quant Trading Firm | NYC A globally renowned quant trading firm is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to design, develop, and support their storage and compute platforms. The firm is a technology-first organization, renowned for its cutting-edge systems, high-performance trading platforms, and large-scale data infrastructure. Their core leadership and engineering team has been together for decades, originally spinning out of a major Wall Street institution.

This role will architect, implement, and support scalable compute and storage solutions as the firm continues to modernize its infrastructure and build state-of-the-art high-throughput, low-latency trading systems and platforms. The opportunity will solve problems across Linux, multi-petabyte storage platforms, configuration management, modern devops and monitoring tooling, performance tuning, resource planning, physical servers, virtualization platforms, container ecosystems, and cloud services.

Base pay range

$200,000.00/yr - $300,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain large-scale storage and compute systems using automation and monitoring solutions.

Help define and foster adoption of engineering best practices for version control, automated testing, and continuous deployment across a complex global infrastructure.

Administer a globally distributed compute environment and multi-petabyte storage platforms.

Deploy, maintain, and monitor Linux systems (primarily RHEL-based distributions).

Diagnose and resolve issues across hardware and software layers.

Skills:

Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Chef.

Experience managing distributed storage systems and protocols (e.g., NFS, GPFS, WEKA).

Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages (e.g., Go, Rust).

Understanding of modern development workflows including source control, agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.

Knowledge of observability tools for distributed systems (e.g., ELK stack, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).

Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS and Google Cloud.
