Medical Director – Transplant Hepatology
Banner University Medicine and The University of Arizona – Tucson invite applications for a transformative vision leader to serve as Medical Director of Transplant Hepatology. This is a prestigious leadership opportunity to build and shape the future of a rapidly expanding abdominal transplant program at a nationally recognized academic medical center.
Overview As Medical Director, you will lead a growing team of hepatologists committed to clinical excellence, academic collaboration, and innovation. You will serve as the clinical and strategic lead for transplant hepatology, working in partnership with renowned transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and the multidisciplinary team.
Program Innovation Advancing robotic organ transplantation, launching a living donor liver transplant program, and initiating auto‑islet transplantation put our program at the cutting edge of modern liver care.
Academic Engagement Engage deeply in academic research and mentorship, supported by two world‑class institutions:
BIO5 Institute – organ regeneration, perfusion, and cellular therapies
Boyer Liver Institute – pioneering liver disease research and innovation
Ideal Candidates
Board certification in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology
Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary liver transplant care
Commitment to clinical program building, academic scholarship, and mentorship
Interest or experience in living donor transplantation, advanced therapies, and clinical trials is highly desirable
