Job Title
Engineer II or III – SCADA
Overview Deriva Energy is a leading independent power producer in the U.S. renewables market with over 6.5 GW of operating or under construction wind, solar and storage projects. The SCADA Engineering Department designs and supports supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems for Deriva’s solar, wind and battery facilities. Engineers in this role receive training to develop SCADA engineering skillsets.
Responsibilities
Design, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systems
Integrate new measurement and control equipment and retrofit aging SCADA systems
Configure data interfaces between software products, generator control systems, SCADA systems, and discrete devices such as RTUs and data historians using various protocols
Configure plant controllers, network switches, and other SCADA equipment for deployment
Develop and maintain wind and solar overlay applications used by the Remote Operations Center to monitor and control the Deriva fleet
Develop positive working relationships to coordinate work activities and demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
Document engineering procedures and the resolutions of technical problems with detail and clarity
Support Deriva Energy’s company goals and represent the company positively and professionally
Support the SCADA 24/7 Emergency & Ticketing on call system once sufficiently experienced (Monthly Team Rotation)
Basic Qualifications (Engineer II)
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
One year or more of related work experience
Basic Qualifications (Engineer III)
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
Three years or more of related work experience
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
Four or more years of related work experience
Strong problem‑solving skills
Proficiency in computer programming (any language)
Experience with PLC programming and configuration
Experience with power engineering
Experience with computer networking
Self‑motivated, with a high level of initiative
Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet stated deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners
Working Conditions
In‑person position based in Charlotte, NC with hybrid flexibility
Travel requirements up to 25%
