Essential Responsibilities: Senior Systems Engineer (LSE) for BWRX-300 Master Parts List (MPL) A32 – Plant Instrumentation and Control Engineering with the primary focus and scope of systems engineering and requirements management (RM) approach governing the overall integrated control system-of-systems (SOS) architecture and design covering the separate but related dimensions of requirements, design decisions, and interfaces derived from: plant, system, and component “tops-down” design and intra- [Controls] and inter- discipline [Non-Controls] interactions. Champion identification, elicitation, definition, attribution or characterization, and allocation to “C” Systems of requirements, design decisions, and interfaces from diverse sources: plant level sources – Safety Strategy, Fault List, Deterministic (DSA) and Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA), RAMI, Human Factors (HF), Radiation, IAEA national nuclear regulations and guides, industry standards [IEC, IEEE, CSA], etc.; system level sources – Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, etc. Mentor others on BWRX-300 specific Safety Strategy, Fault List, and IAEA based Defense Line framework as well as associated safety categorization of functions and safety classification of structures, systems, components (SSCs), and equipment thereof. Champion and mentor others in RM processes – Drive use of RM tool. Prepare and maintain using data-centric digital tools with rigorous requirements, change control, and configuration management. Perform design technical oversight, review, and verification of deliverables to ensure their adequacy in accuracy, completeness, and compliance with requirements. Lead technical assessment or problem solving reviews, optioneering studies, root cause analyses, design reviews, etc. that are fact based, reasonable, and result in a durable impact on Control Systems designs. Perform as key or first point of contact for Regulatory Affairs or Licensing for preparation or review and comment of PSAR, POSAR, FSAR Chapter 7 – Instrumentation & Control Systems, Licensing Topical Reports, RAIs or RFIs. Provide staff technical mentoring, guidance, oversight, competency, or qualification assessment with balanced, respectful mindset informed by creativity, foresight, and mature judgement. Champion knowledge capture and transfer, Lessons Learned, Best Practices, Design Guides, use of digital tools, etc. Prepare technical papers, awards, and patents. Participate in industry technical working groups. Establish productive working relationships with Engineering, Product and Project Management, other support functions, and both internal and external suppliers. Deliver with integrity, safety and security, quality, then output at cost – Champion nuclear culture. Support LEAN, Design To Cost, Value Engineering, etc. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Engineering for Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Computer Science or Technology, Software or Systems or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or equivalent advanced technical degree or High School Diploma/GED with 20+ years of nuclear plant operations experience. 15 years' experience in nuclear industry. 10 years' experience in system design requirements, specifications, documentation, and related detailed design artifacts using digital tools such as drawings, databases, tabular lists covering functions, algorithms, set points, equipment and instrument characteristics and configurations, electrical and heat loads, physical equipment layout. 10 years' experience using industry standards applicable to nuclear plant I&C systems design and modification design change packages (DCPs) through requisition engineering or fulfillment and FAT to successful site installation test and COD: IEC 60xxx, 61xxx and 62xxx series, OR IEEE 828, 829, 830, 1008, 1012, 1028, 1042, and 1074. 10 years' experience with excellent PC as well as productivity software [Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Visio]. Eligibility Requirements: The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC; but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered. This role is restricted to U.S. persons due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment. Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control and monitoring with detailed knowledge in systems, hardware, software, theory of operation, modeling, detailed design, with interfaces such as control rod drive, rod block monitor, rod worth min instrument set point and calibration methodologies, testing and field services or plant start-ups. Experience in nuclear regulatory affairs and licensing processes per applicable international or US NRC laws, rules, GDC, RG, SRM, ISG, BTP, IN. Experience with equipment qualification (EQ) methodologies and reports to diverse nuclear industry regulations and referenced standards. Experience in application, deployment and support engineering of complex, high reliability, harsh environment, real time operating digital systems with single point failure criteria, redundancy, data processing, inter-networking, human factors, safety, reliability, simulation, cyber security requirements. Experience using modern digital engineering tools: content creation, requirements management, diagram/drawing, design and analysis simulation, change and BOM management tools listed as ENOVIA, Confluence/SharePoint, DOORS-NextGen, Visio, AutoCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, 3KeyMaster, etc. Clear thinker, detail oriented, insightful, quantitative, results oriented – able to make reasoned, sound, and timely decisions. Exceptional technical writing and strong verbal communication skills. Able to take ownership and responsibility for scoping, planning, prioritizing, scheduling, budgeting, action tracking, monitoring, corrective actions, and reporting. Self-starter with energy and positive attitude. Proven track record of delivering quality for large and complex designs on specification, budget, and schedule in a fast-paced environment. Team player with cross-disciplinary and matrixed skills; able to handle multiple concurrent assignments and priorities. Adaptable with continuous learning mindset and ability to identify and implement improvements. Working knowledge of Agile or LEAN, DMAIC, DFSS, DFR, and FMEA. Pay and Benefits:
The base pay range for this position is $128,000-202,000. The offer may be influenced by experience, education, and skill set. This position is eligible for bonuses (performance-based or equity) and is expected to close on 10/3/2025. The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
