Senior Environmental Geologist / Scientist
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Environmental Geologist / Scientist to join our team! In this role you will get to work on challenging environmental projects and directly contribute to technical evaluation and reporting. You'll oversee drilling activities, excavations, sampling, and remediation.
What You'll Be Doing
Prepare, submit, and manage reports in compliance with Illinois LUST (Leaking Underground Storage Tank) and Illinois Site Remediation (SRP) program regulations.
Perform a risk-based framework for evaluating environmental contamination and determining cleanup levels for soil, groundwater, and soil gas based on the three tiers of evaluation TACO calculations (Tiered Approach to Corrective Action Objectives).
Ensure compliance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) guidelines under 35 Ill. Adm. Code Part 732, 734, and 740.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding LUST site assessments, corrective action plans, and reimbursement requests.
Conduct site investigations and prepare technical reports including Site Investigation Plans (SIPs), Corrective Action Plans (CAPs), and NFR (No Further Remediation) documentation.
Maintain current knowledge of IEPA LUST program requirements, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
Support underground storage tank removal, sampling, and remediation oversight in compliance with Illinois LUST protocols.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of related work experience.
Proven experience with Illinois LUST reporting and compliance. Minimum 5 years of experience.
Strong working knowledge of IEPA LUST regulations, including 35 Ill. Adm. Code Parts 732, 734, 740.
40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring
Illinois PE and/or PG certification is a plus.
Excellent technical writing, regulatory interpretation, and communication skills.
Security Clearance Requirement None. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.
Salary Range $62,300.00 - $109,000.00
