RF and Network Analysis Engineer, Regulatory (Starlink) SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity explores the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system—thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together.

Responsibilities

Support technical analyses pertaining to radio frequency interference and satellite spectrum coordination.

Model Starlink and other non-geostationary satellite operational topology and hardware.

Simulate various scenarios considering regulatory constraints, geographic constraints, RF link budgets, constellation growth, customer growth, and coordination strategies.

Analyze network and user experience impacts based on simulation results and make recommendations on satellite policy and coordination strategy.

Help provide strategic regulatory recommendations and advocacy support to business development efforts.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.

Experience in MATLAB, Python, C++ or other tools for modeling and analyzing RF systems.

1+ years of research, design, development, or regulatory experience in the RF and/or antenna domain (internship, thesis, or extracurricular work is applicable).

Preferred Skills and Experience

Basic understanding of satellite hardware and orbital mechanics.

Experience with Visualyse.

Experience in modeling large non-geostationary satellite constellations.

Experience in satellite network simulation development and analysis.

Experience with RF topics in satellite communications, including link budgets, antenna theory and design, and interference analysis.

Additional Requirements

Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits Pay range: RF Engineer/Level I: $122,500.00 – $145,000.00 per year RF Engineer/Level II: $140,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees in Washington State accrue paid sick time in compliance with state and federal law. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
