We will collaborate with the Marketing Lead to develop and execute a strategic communications plan across all social platforms, consistently articulating CIOGC’s mission. The Communications Coordinator will plan, prepare, publish, and disseminate Council’s information internally and externally, support external marketing material, manage the website, research the target audience, create and execute social media campaigns, facilitate promotional materials for events, and maintain an engaging social media presence aligned with CIOGC’s guidelines.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborate with Marketing Lead to develop and execute a strategic communications plan.

Lead CIOGC’s messaging for multiple communication channels – Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, and X.

Plan, prepare, publish, and disseminate Council’s information both internally and externally (members and public).

Work alongside Marketing Lead to prepare written, graphical, audio, and visual marketing material, creative editorial, and design services to support communications to external outlets.

Successfully implement social platforms and weekly newsletters with effective branding that increases engagement.

Assist the maintenance of the website, ensuring the site is up-to-date and engaging for all Council audiences.

Research and study CIOGC’s target audience and explore innovative methods to engage and grow that audience.

Create and execute social media campaigns across all platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp.

Collaborate on all content creation, including audio, video, and written content for all programs and workshops.

Facilitate the development and execution of promotional materials around events, outreach, and special initiatives.

Occasionally assist in office event support as needed.

Manage, update, and grow all social media accounts daily with content aligned with CIOGC’s social media and communications guidelines.

Serve as a Content Creator and Editor, researching, proofreading, and publishing content in the weekly newsletter and other mediums.

Define layout and hierarchy of all digital content through Mailchimp.

Collaborate with the Marketing Lead, the ED, and DO to create promotional content around events, outreach, and special initiatives to optimize interest, engagement, and attendance.

Procure a list of volunteers to serve as regular content contributors.

Be proactive in creating, maintaining, and sharing a content calendar with other members of CIOGC.

Collaborate with staff to brainstorm ideas to improve and innovate ways to engage the audience weekly.

Reach out to member organizations weekly on any upcoming events and projects to promote through all mediums, including social media and newsletter.

Familiarize and educate others on current trends within social media and adapt to those trends.

Proactively observe and stay current on events and news shared on the CIOGC community groups for insight into current trends and events that CIOGC can engage and collaborate.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, media relations, or another related field.

1-2 Years of experience serving in a communications role.

Experience with non-profit, Muslim organizations preferred.

Experience with email services, social media platforms, MailChimp required.

Graphic design experience is highly preferred.

Self-managed individual with ability to work independently and as a team.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Full-time, Mid-Senior level | Salary: $60,000.00–$75,000.00
