Security Officer (Full Time, Rotating Shift)
Location:
Virginia Beach, VA Hours:
40 hours/week
The Security Officer provides a physically safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees at Sentara Hospital and its Free‑standing Emergency Departments. This role involves actively patrolling campus, monitoring activity, responding to routine and emergency situations, performing camera surveillance, maintaining logs and records, conducting investigations, and using computer skills for documentation.
Responsibilities
Patrol campus and monitor activity in and around buildings and grounds.
Respond appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
Perform camera surveillance and maintain department logs.
Conduct security investigations and evaluate situations for professional resolution.
Ensure officers meet a minimum Fit for Duty assessment of a response walk, stair climb, drag to safety, and lift.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Certification/Licensure:
Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record; Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) certification by IAHSS within 90 days of hire.
Experience:
One year of security experience; former military, law enforcement, or security officer experience preferred; de‑escalation and physical intervention training within 180 days of hire.
