Cluster Project Design Electrical Engineer, Fleet Remediation Project Design Electrical Engineer
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Fleet Remediation Project Design Electrical Engineer to lead design projects in operational data centers across the IAD Cluster and globally. The candidate will own design solutions, provide lifecycle support from design through implementation, and be the go‑to engineering resource for remediation projects.
Responsibilities
Own design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability and increase sustainability.
Prepare and review short circuit coordination studies and maintain software models to match as‑built site conditions.
Perform design and equipment submittal review for data centers in the region.
Interface with internal and external design engineering teams, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team, field engineering and controls engineering to promote consistent standards.
Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions and act as technical subject matter expert.
Support construction, commissioning, operations and turnover.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
1+ year of design experience in mission critical facilities including data centers.
Strong engineering judgement and ability to provide design recommendations despite uncertainty.
Detail and data oriented with familiarity with design/construction processes.
Experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants.
Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design).
Manage design and as‑built drawings and documents and prepare progress reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience with design, construction, operation or maintenance of data centers.
Knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region.
Experience reading, interpreting and creating construction drawings, specifications and submittal documents.
Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development and deployment.
Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment/design related to data center electrical and mechanical topology.
