Overview The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Associate Director for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Under the broad guidance of the Senior Director, this is a key position in which the incumbent liaises with the entire University community and directs subordinate Planner Estimator staff to liaise with the entire university community for all Operations and Services, which include but are not limited to: compliance, small renovations, all phases of maintenance planning activities, and Deferred Maintenance Planning.

Responsibilities

Ensures that the abatement of Fire Code Violations and Sub-Chapter 4 Violations are properly handled, as well as the abatement of New Construction and Renovation Punch list items as related to Maintenance, Rutgers Environmental Health Services remediation efforts, Classroom Maintenance Planning, are carried out and executed, in addition to a host of other requests.

Performs professional work required, and possesses specialized knowledge of all aspects of Maintenance, Code Compliance, and Renovation. Provides creative solutions to complex problems.

Works independently to meet objectives, with minimal supervision, and routinely interacts with every university department, including but not limited to the Chancellor's lead units, Athletics, Health Care departments, Student Services, and Central Administrative departments.

Serves as a hub between internal IP&O departments.

The incumbent and subordinate staff support the university 24/7/365 on the New Brunswick Campus, as well as on all Off-Campus facilities, comprising over 730 buildings, occupying ISM square feet.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in management, engineering, or an equivalent combination of education that demonstrates a thorough knowledge and understanding of mechanical building systems and infrastructure typically found in a university setting.

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience, as well as supervisory experience, is required.

Certifications/Licenses

Valid Driver's license

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated leadership and management skills in a highly complex organization. Requires the ability to think strategically, and have outstanding technical, interpersonal, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Comprehensive understanding of Mechanical Maintenance, preferably with experience working in the trades.

Equipment Utilized

Microsoft Office Products, Asset-Works Work Management System, and the Archibus Space Managementsystems.
