Responsibilities The Corporate Security Specialist assists the Security Manager with the overall safety and security of staff, patients, visitors, and guests of the Hoag facilities by conducting assessments of security systems and processes, training staff, and conducting comprehensive investigations relating to incidents on campus. Conducts or assists with internal investigations upon request. Actively assesses each operational area for specific risks and vulnerabilities and completes Individualized Security Risk Assessments for each area on an on-going basis.
Provides guidance to staff regarding Temporary or Permanent Restraining Orders and provides Corporate Counsel with supporting documents to obtain Restraining Orders. Functions as a primary resource regarding Security information and interfaces with law enforcement agencies as needed. Can be relied upon to provide quick and consistent information for responses to subpoenas and other information requests from the courts or law enforcement.
Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Issues ‘Be On the Look Out’ Security Alerts with the most current information available to appropriate staff when it is necessary to identify potential risks on campus. Maintains an active knowledge of Crisis Management, Emergency Response, and Environment of Care safety standards, as well as federal and state laws or other regulatory standards. Participates in the Emergency Management and Environment of Care committees and maintains an active membership in Healthcare Security organizations to keep informed of trends surrounding healthcare organizations.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Any combination of experience that is equivalent to at least 5 years in security operations, or other related field experience in a law enforcement or military agency with a minimum of 3 years in a training capacity
Ability to lecture or present information to large groups
Record must be free from convictions or any felony or any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude and free from an excessive number of citations for traffic violations
Familiarity with Accreditation standards, Penal Code, Welfare and Institutions Code, Health & Safety Code, 10 CFR Part 37, Crisis Intervention, NFPA, CCR Titles 8, 22, and 26, as they relate to Healthcare Security and/or Workplace Violence is preferred
License Requirements
Valid California driver’s license required
Preferred Licenses
Valid Bureau of Security and Investigative Services License: Security Guard or Proprietary Private Security Officer
Certifications
PC-832 Certification, IAHSS Supervisory or any other industry related training
Certified Instructor for the AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention and Handcuffing, Laws of Arrest courses (or equivalent courses) (must obtain within 1 year of hire)
