Departmental Overview

Responsibilities
Involves gathering, analyzing, and interpreting a wide variety of research data and designing and conducting research studies.
Conduct statistical studies to support research proposals and protocols.
Manage personnel, timelines, logistics, and data collection for diverse research studies and oversee undergraduate research assistants.
Maintain and develop research gathering, retrieval, and reporting systems.
Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, research assistants, and staff to manage the portfolio of research projects and communication flow.
Plan studies, including design of survey instruments and sampling procedures.
Prepare and analyze research data.
Understand literature review components and how they relate to study design.
Contribute to developing projects and revisions of ongoing projects.
Attend and participate in research seminars.
Collaborate on design, documentation, testing, and implementation of research studies.
Assist in developing systems for organizing data to analyze, identify, and report trends.
Schedule and coordinate research meetings.
Coordinate hiring, interviewing, and reviewing applicants for undergraduate and predoctoral research assistants.
May be involved in researching, evaluating, and selecting new data reporting products.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of research functions.
Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design, and data security measures.
Working skills in analysis and consultation.
Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
Proficiency in at least one of the following languages for computational code: Python, Julia, STATA, MATLAB, or Perl.
Proficiency with version control software such as git.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to establish positive working relationships.
Exemplifies Haas’s four defining leadership principles.
Education / Training
Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience running code on Linux‑based remote server environments.
Experience managing small teams.
Experience writing on technical subjects for a professional or non‑professional audience.
Salary & Benefits
This is a 1‑year, full‑time contract appointment eligible for UC benefits. The hourly rate falls within the university’s compensation range for this role. Detailed compensation information is available at the UC Compensation & Benefits website.
