Job Description The Omni Amelia Island Resort is seeking a
Director of Catering & Convention Services . The Director oversees the Catering Sales & Convention Services Departments, ensuring consistent standards, maximizing profitability and protecting the integrity of the guest experience.
Location On‑property at Omni Amelia Island Resort (Fernandina Beach, FL).
Responsibilities
Ensure catering sales meet budgeted levels.
Coordinate communication between Sales, Banquet Services and Food & Beverage.
Maintain a strong relationship with the Banquet Manager to support smooth operations.
Document files in the trace system according to the Accounts Coverage Program (ACP).
Prospect and expand the base of accounts.
Monitor and evaluate the Banquet Department’s service level continuously.
Prepare monthly, weekly and quarterly Food & Beverage forecasts.
Develop Sales Action Plans and KRA’s on a quadrimestral basis to focus on client needs.
Set performance benchmarks for Catering Account Executives and Service Manager.
Forecast the 18‑month rolling forecast and monthly payroll, public room income and meeting covers.
Enforce department standards and company policies.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
Supervise and direct the activities of the Assistant Director of Convention Services, Convention Coordinators, Floor Managers and Office Manager.
Coordinate final details with convention/meeting planners.
Forecast and arrange work processes for personnel in the department.
Provide necessary training, motivation and leadership for all department personnel.
Participate in the final interview process and hire all departmental personnel.
Maintain rapport with outside purveyors and efficient office procedures.
Qualifications
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Know emergency procedures and work to prevent accidents.
Have a working knowledge of Food & Beverage product offerings.
Attend all designated Sales and Banquet meetings.
Conduct monthly one‑on‑one meetings with Catering Managers.
Attend weekly Forecast and Rooms Merchandising meetings.
Establish a rapport with individuals in similar positions at other hotels.
Advises hotel department heads of special requirements of groups.
Ensure all file turnover requirements are fulfilled.
Ensure desired quality level in all meeting room sets.
Ensure all equipment is in good order and uses preventive maintenance schedules.
Tour daily the hotel function space and spot‑check meeting room setups.
Conduct weekly department meetings.
Tools and Equipment
Tables and chairs when assisting room set‑ups.
Computer, printer, telephone, pen/pencil, photo‑copy machine and filing cabinet.
Working Environment
Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions.
Interior of hotel in normal office conditions.
