Sr. Administrative Manager (Institute for NanoBioTechnology)
We are seeking a Senior Administrative Manager for the Institute of NanoBioTechnology (INBT) at the Whiting School of Engineering, Johns Hopkins University. INBT is an exceptionally diverse, multidisciplinary team of faculty and students dedicated to discovering, designing, and delivering breakthroughs at the interface of nanoscience and living systems. INBT brings together experts from the Whiting School of Engineering, School of Medicine, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Applied Physics Laboratory, and Krieger School of Arts and Sciences.
The Sr. Administrative Manager is responsible for overall administrative, financial and operational management of a large, complex department (operating budget $10‑19 million, 50+ employees). The role provides strategic direction and day‑to‑day oversight of finance, human resources, academic/research operations, compliance, and infrastructure.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management: oversee budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, audit support, and financial risk management. Develop and update policies, produce monthly and quarterly reports, and support strategic plans.
Administration: plan and execute key events and initiatives, mentor and train staff, manage workload priorities and resources, supervise performance of direct and indirect staff, develop administrative policies, manage space and facilities issues.
Human Resources: collaborate with HR to promote growth, manage staffing and personnel plans, support hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, salary planning, and ensure compliance with university policies.
Operations and Program Management: oversee clinical, academic or research operations and programs and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
Five years of progressively responsible administrative or financial experience in an academic, research, or comparable environment.
Supervisory experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field.

Starting Salary Range: $73,300 – $128,300 annually (commensurate with experience)
Position Status: Exempt
Location: Hybrid / Homewood Campus
Schedule: 37.5 hrs/wk, M‑F
Employee Group: Full Time
