Northrop Grumman invites applications for a Principal Engineer Software – Embedded and Real Time located onsite in
Melbourne, Florida . The role focuses on developing real‑time, mission‑critical embedded software for flight and space systems.
Key Details:
Travel: 25% of the time
Relocation Assistance: Available
Clearance: Secret (Top Secret in‑scope) – Special Program Access required
Start Date: Determined after program funding confirmation
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, integrate and maintain embedded mission‑system applications using software engineering best practices.
Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements, modeling, design, implementation, qualification and delivery.
Architect and develop real‑time embedded software on operating systems such as VxWorks, Integrity, and real‑time Linux.
Lead Agile Scrum teams to deliver software baselines for flight and mission‑critical systems.
Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and integration/test engineers.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of engineering experience; or Master’s with 3 years; or PhD with 1 year.
5 + years of embedded software experience in C, C++, and/or Python.
Experience with Agile frameworks, CI/CD tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with software change control, static and dynamic code analysis (Coverity, SonarQube, Fortify).
Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance with PAR prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DOORs and software requirement specification testing.
Strong network interface and troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP, UDP, LAN, VLAN, SNMP).
Current Special Access Program (SAP) access.
Salary Range:
$95,300.00 – $142,900.00 (basic).
