We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with 12 to 16 years of expertise in data mapping, integration, and modeling. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in ANSI SQL, data analysis, and proficiency with tools such as IBM InfoSphere Data Architect and ERWin. This hybrid role demands a detail-oriented professional capable of designing and implementing logical and physical data models that support evolving business objectives.
Senior Data Scientist (NLP & Conversational AI) — Python Expert Role Summary We are looking for a
Senior Data Scientist
with deep expertise in
Natural Language Processing (NLP)
and
Python , who can design, build, and optimize conversational AI systems integrated with
Voice AI . The role involves scaling real-time transcription pipelines, persona extraction from millions of conversations, and enhancing dialogue agents for production environments. You will work closely with engineering teams to integrate bots with backend systems (e.g., WebSocket APIs) and ensure robust, tested, and documented solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Conversational AI Development
Enhance and optimize
conversation bots
that interact with Voice AI and backend systems.
Implement
dialogue management
strategies using NLP techniques and persona-based responses.
Speech & Text Processing
Build and improve pipelines for
real-time transcription
and
persona extraction
from large-scale datasets (millions of transcriptions).
Apply advanced NLP for intent detection, entity recognition, and context-aware responses.
Integration & Orchestration
Integrate bots with
WebSocket APIs
and backend services for seamless communication.
Collaborate with external systems (e.g., Fiserv WebSocket) for data exchange and orchestration.
Performance & Scalability
Optimize Python code for speed and memory efficiency in high-volume environments.
Scale persona generation and testing frameworks for large datasets.
Quality & Documentation
Complete
unit testing , error handling, and performance benchmarking.
Maintain clear documentation in
Confluence
and ensure reproducibility of workflows.
Continuous Improvement
Implement enhancements to conversation logic (e.g., phone number validation, persona diversity).
Drive innovation in conversational AI using best practices in NLP and speech technologies.
Required Skills
Expert Python : clean, optimized, production-grade code.
Strong
NLP fundamentals : text preprocessing, tokenization, embeddings, transformer-based models (BERT, RoBERTa).
Experience with
speech-to-text (ASR)
and
real-time transcription pipelines .
Hands-on with
conversation bots/dialogue systems
and persona-based modeling.
Familiarity with
WebSocket integration , REST APIs, and backend orchestration.
Proficiency in
ML lifecycle : model training, evaluation (precision/recall/F1), deployment (FastAPI/Flask), and monitoring.
Knowledge of
data scaling strategies
for millions of records.
Strong
unit testing
and debugging skills.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with
voice AI frameworks
or
speech synthesis .
Familiarity with
vector databases
(FAISS, Elasticsearch) for semantic search.
Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) for scaling and deployment.
Exposure to
MLOps tools
(MLflow, DVC) and CI/CD pipelines.
Success Metrics
Deliver
optimized conversation bot

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until October 19th 2025. The annual salary for this position is between $120K- 130K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
