Role Overview Under close supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (Multi-Modality) performs a variety of duties in the Department of Radiology/Imaging Services of Alameda Health System related to general Radiography/Fluoroscopy. Performs various diagnostic imaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to established procedures. Performs related duties as required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists Physician in administering opaque media (contrast)
Rotates assignments within the department by assigned shifts as required to meet departmental needs
Processes Images as appropriate for Modality (CR/DR/Film) and is proficient in utilizing the PACS system (Picture Archival Communications)
Maintains adequate records of examinations/dose/contrast as directed, and appropriately utilizing two patient identifiers with each patient exam
Assists with movement of patients (rooming/transport)
Assists in the development/optimization of technical factors for radiographic procedures
May assist in equipment or procedures not routinely taught in school
May assist in the training of students
Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with designated areas or procedures as required
Performs all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by employer
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of environment and supplies
Ensure utilization of non-expired supplies by checking stock regularly and using the “first in, first out” rule of re-stocking
Produces Radiographs, positions and transfers patients, and provides immobilization devices as necessary to obtain images
Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards
Ensure utilizing techniques that promote ALARA on an individual patient basis (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) for radiation exposure
Selects and operates all imaging equipment as directed and licensed to perform
Qualifications
Required Education:
High school Diploma or equivalent, Graduation from an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology
Preferred Education:
Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
Required Experience:
Proficient in a minimum of three Modalities
Modalities may include:
X-ray and Fluoroscopy
All must have this plus one additional modality: NOTE: for CT/MRI/PACS
Internal promotion must have required below prior to promotion
External hire, must obtain within 6 months for CT/MRI/PACS
CT (Computed Tomography) - ARRT (CT) Required
Mammography CRT (M) Required
MRI- ARRT (MRI) Required
Permanent Lead for designated shift
Primary responsibility for compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA) through record keeping and reporting
Licenses & Certifications Valid ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification, and other ARRT certifications as it relates to each modality where appropriate; valid Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California; BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
PAY RANGE: $54.22 - 71.25/HR
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licenses and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.
