Backend Engineers design, build, operate, and maintain the cloud-based services that power Hinge. You’ll solve complex technical challenges and own a significant portion of the software stack that enables millions of users to find meaningful connections. You’ll write high-quality code, design reliable systems, and operate the software that you build by taking part in on-call. You’ll be part of a diverse cross-functional team that includes Product, Data Science, ML, iOS, Android, and Data Engineering. You’ll contribute to defining and implementing the technical strategy for innovations in product areas such as Recommendations, Monetization, and User Safety. Responsibilities

Design and build Web APIs for a microservice architecture. Participate in the backend On-Call rotation (around a week per quarter). Design and develop distributed systems in Go using cloud infrastructure, ensuring high performance and scalability. Lead projects end-to-end from technical design to implementation, while managing workload, meetings, and timelines. Collaborate across teams to promote inclusivity, growth, and strong cross-functional communication. What We're Looking For

5+ years of industry experience as a backend/service engineer 4+ years of experience in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS, Azure) Strong programming skills : Proficiency with Go; Python is a bonus System Design & Architecture:

Deep understanding of distributed computing, event-based architecture, and cloud design patterns Collaboration and Communication:

Solid writing skills and ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical teammates Cloud Technologies:

Proficiency with Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, gRPC/Protobuf, Argo, Kafka, etc. Salary Range

$177,500.00 - $213,000.00 per year Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, market and business considerations may influence base pay. This range reflects a position based in New York City and may be adjusted geographically if needed. What You’ll Love
