Job Details: Purpose
The University of Texas Medical Center Administrative Internship Program is a 10-week, full-time internship designed for recent undergraduate and graduate school graduates, as well as current master's students, who are pursuing a career in healthcare administration. This program provides emerging leaders in healthcare administration the opportunity to contribute to the direction and growth of a rapidly expanding academic medical center at Dell Medical School, UT Austin, while developing the skills to succeed as a leader in the field. The internship will include engagement in project-based work aligned with their interests and organizational needs while being provided with leadership exposure and mentorship within a dynamic healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
Administrative Duties Participates in ongoing planning and execution of projects as assigned by the Administrative Internship Program Manager. Perform independent analysis of operational, financial and statistical information developing analytical forecasts and models to guide decision making as it relates to business development, benchmarking, staffing, financial ROI assessments, clinical capacity utilization, patient experience, clinical care redesigns, and other needs. Assist various departments and teams with organizational initiatives on topics ranging from financial analysis, performance improvement, strategy deployment, emergency preparedness and business continuity, hospital throughput, and others. Develop business plans and proposals for various clinical departments, administrative teams, or other functional areas. Synthesize numerous sources of internal and external information including peer-reviewed literature, industry publications, internal quantitative and qualitative data, and other sources. Prepare presentation-quality reports. Present, communicate and disseminate findings of project work, institutional initiatives, and special assignments. Ability to independently prioritize and plan projects, experiences, and daily activities.

Required Qualifications Recent undergraduate or graduate school graduates, or current master's student, pursuing a career in healthcare administration. Recent graduates must have completed their degree within the last 8 months. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a healthcare setting. Self-motivated, team oriented and effective interpersonal skills. High degree of professionalism, maturity and initiative with ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment. Strong and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented, excellent record keeping and organization skills, with strong follow-through and accountability. Ability to obtain, analyze, synthesize, and interpret industry and institutional data as well as market, utilization and financial data.
