DENTAL ASSISTANT – Montana State Prison, Deer Lodge, MT

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is committed to accountability, rehabilitation, and empowerment. The Dental Department seeks a dedicated Dental Assistant to provide high‑quality preventive and comprehensive dental services to incarcerated male offenders.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Dentist, Denturist, or Hygienist in delivering comprehensive oral health care to inmates.
• Perform chairside assistance, instrument preparation, sterilization, and paraprofessional duties.
• Coordinate daily operations of the Dental Department to ensure efficient workflow.
• Compile and maintain critical data and records relevant to dental services.
• Perform administrative tasks, including appointment scheduling, inventory tracking, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety regulations, and department policies.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma / GED Equivalency.
• Dental Assistant certification – Preferred (not required).
• Dental Laboratory training / certification – Preferred (not required).
• Three years’ experience as a dental assistant – Preferred (not required).
• Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: $22.54 per hour (Yearly $22.54) – Telework not eligible.

Full‑time, Day shift. Travel: Yes – 5% of the time.
