Position Overview

The Sr. Engineer, Hardware, SBC joins our high-performance product development team to design rugged single board computing solutions that power aerospace and defense systems worldwide. Working closely with PCB, firmware, mechanical, and production teams, you will bring high-performance computing products from concept to deployment in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex requirements into schematic designs for rugged embedded systems that meet strict aerospace and defense standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with PCB, firmware, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate components into seamless, mission-ready products.
  • Evaluate high-speed interfaces, power distribution networks, and advanced GPUs/SoCs to push the limits of computing in extreme environments.
  • Plan and execute compliance testing, thermal characterization, and bring-up to ensure flawless performance under MIL-STD conditions.
  • Research and integrate cutting-edge video, AI acceleration, and interconnect solutions into next-generation designs.
  • Create and review detailed specifications, schematics, and BOMs that align with aerospace standards and internal processes.
  • Engage with production and quality teams to optimize workflows, improve reliability, and streamline design-to-production cycles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 8+ years of experience designing mixed-signal hardware systems.
  • Proficiency with schematic-level design, high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR4, GDDR6), and advanced video standards such as HDMI, DisplayPort, and SMPTE.
  • Experience meeting MIL-STD-810, DO-160, IPC, and ITAR requirements and working with rugged computing form factors like VPX and XMC.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense standards including MIL-STD-810, DO-160, IPC, DO-254, and DO-178.
  • Background with VPX, XMC, and U.S. defense frameworks such as SOSA, CMOSS, or VICTORY.
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly with PCB, firmware, mechanical, and production engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills to evaluate trade-offs, avoid assumptions, and dig into specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Clear and open communication skills and a collaborative team mindset.

Benefits

  • Top-Tier Compensation: $120,000–$150,000.
  • Wellness & Coverage: Health Care Spending Account, short- and long-term disability plans, and a monthly Wellness Allowance.
  • Generous Time Off: Three weeks’ paid vacation plus an additional week of company-wide holiday shutdown.
