Quality Assurance Engineer – Cybersecurity & AI Location: San Jose, CA (5 days in office)

Overview We’re a well‑funded AI startup ($25M seed) that builds next‑generation AI‑powered cybersecurity analytics. As one of our first QA Engineers, you will shape how modern AI‑driven cybersecurity systems validate threats, analyze data, and perform at scale.

Responsibilities

Design & execute security‑focused test strategies for functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.

Build & maintain scalable test automation frameworks for security analytics, threat detection pipelines, and AI‑powered security agents; implement CI/CD pipelines.

Validate threat detection accuracy, false positive rates, incident response workflows, and analytics outputs across diverse attack scenarios.

Test AI/ML security models for accuracy, adversarial testing, bias detection, and output verification.

Validate integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of security data pipelines (ETL, logs, alerts).

Conduct performance & scale testing for high‑volume security event processing under load.

Perform security & vulnerability testing on platform APIs, authentication, data encryption, and secure data handling.

Collaborate with security researchers, data engineers, ML engineers, and product teams to integrate quality checks throughout the development lifecycle.

Produce actionable quality metrics: test reports, security quality dashboards, defect trend analysis.

Champion security quality culture: mentor teammates, advocate security testing best practices, establish scalable testing standards.

Qualifications

5‑7 years of hands‑on experience in QA, test automation, or software testing; preference for cybersecurity or security analytics.

Experience testing security products (SIEM, XDR, threat intelligence, analytics tools).

Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages for test automation.

Experience with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and methodologies (Pytest, Selenium, TestNG, Jenkins).

Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts: threat detection, vulnerability management, security events, attack patterns, NIST, MITRE ATT&CK.

Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems.

Strong SQL skills; database testing, ETL validation tools (e.g., Great Expectations).

Understanding of data pipeline architectures and security data processing.

Familiarity with security testing tools (Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP), secure coding practices.

Bonus: AI/ML testing, security research, threat intelligence, or building scalable testing systems.
