The Controller reports to the Vice President, Financial Operations and is responsible for maintaining the accounting records of the University, providing accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring internal controls, and implementing cutting-edge technology. Major Duties
Lead and develop a staff of over 65 professionals across Student Financial Services, Financial Accounting & Reporting, Tax Services, Payroll Services, Research Financial Operations, and Property Management. Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to accomplish university goals. Review month‑end close reporting, prepare monthly board committee presentations, and provide routine and ad hoc financial analysis for senior leadership. Oversee preparation of consolidated financial statements, lead external audits, and serve as liaison with external auditors and the Board of Trustees Audit Committee. Establish an internal control environment related to financial information and the accounting for the University’s assets. Serve as committee member for various subsidiaries, related parties, task forces, and working groups. Required Skills
CPA qualified and master’s degree (MBA, MSA, or equivalent). 12+ years of financial accounting management experience, preferably in higher education; at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity. Demonstrated expertise in internal controls, compliance, and GAAP. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent analytical abilities and experience with report‑writing applications. Track record of managing staff and office operations; strong leadership and team‑building skills. Effective time‑management and planning skills. Preferred Skills
Experience with SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Banner, or other campus solutions and Microsoft Office Suite. Benefits / Other Information
