Location: Aiken, SC | Salary: $74,000 - $82,000
This position is responsible for maintaining the Aiken County cadastral geospatial data, using surveys and various other data sources to create, modify and delete parcel boundaries and descriptive attributes.
Responsibilities
Cadastral Database Management – Accurate analysis, processing and documentation of incoming deeds and plats, updating the county cadaster swiftly and precisely. Suggests improvements to workflow and collaborates with surveyors, developers, attorneys, Assessor staff, and Planning staff.
Spatial Data Analysis and Cartography – Conduct simple ad hoc and recurring analyses of geospatial data, producing clear, informative, and aesthetically pleasing map products.
Technical/Management Support – Assist county and public customers with GIS technology, advising on integrating GIS analyses into workflows. Performs software installation, troubleshooting and other GIS help desk services for assigned departments.
Fieldwork – Conduct occasional fieldwork projects to collect geospatial data, including project design, preparation, collection, and post‑collection processing.
Drone Services – May be asked to obtain FAA UAV certification to become a certified drone pilot in command. May participate in scheduling, planning and execution of drone missions and process resulting imagery using Esri Drone 2 Map and other software.
Qualifications
Minimum Level of Job‑Related Education: 2‑4 year degree or certification in geography, engineering or science field with extensive coursework on GIS.
Minimum Amount of Job‑Related Experience: 1 year working for local or state government.
Desired Experience: 2 years working with legal property documents and/or tax map data.
