Duties
Handle complex medical malpractice and civil litigation matters from inception to resolution
Participate in all phases of litigation, including investigation, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
Conduct and defend depositions of parties and expert witnesses
Draft pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents for court filings
Engage in client meetings, case strategy discussions, and risk assessments
Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
Collaborate with team members across offices to ensure cohesive case management
Requirements
1-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice or healthcare‑related matters
Active bar admission in Virginia is required; licensure in DC or Maryland is strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage caseloads independently with minimal supervision
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Prior courtroom or deposition experience is highly valued
Commitment to ethical practice, responsiveness, and client service
Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Skills
Comprehensive understanding of procedural rules in Virginia, DC, and Maryland courts
Ability to analyze complex medical records and expert testimony
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client and team interaction
Proficiency in legal research tools and litigation support software
