$90,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr Critical Power Specialist Recruiter (UPS, ATS, Switchgear, Commissioning Talent Across Data Centers & Infrastructure)
Seattle, WA If your idea of a good day is tracing a DC fault, swapping a battery jar, and watching the load transfer clean, keep reading. We’re searching for a Battery Technician who’s proficient in both AC and DC systems. You’ll be out in the field supporting UPS, battery, and power distribution gear that keeps data centers, hospitals, and telecom networks running 24/7. Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on UPS systems (single-phase and three-phase), from 10kVA rack units to 500kVA+ enterprise systems. Inspect, test, and replace VRLA, wet cell, and lithium battery strings; perform impedance and load testing using Alber, Midtronics, or similar gear. Execute start-ups, commissioning, and acceptance testing on new installations, both standalone UPS and integrated switchgear setups. Conduct infrared scans, torque checks, and DC voltage readings to verify battery health and prevent failures. Support AC/DC power distribution, transfer switches (STS/ATS), rectifiers, and inverters when needed. Interface with site contacts, project managers, and OEM support teams; complete detailed service reports and recommendations. Skills Needed
3 - 5 years of field experience working on UPS systems, DC power plants, or battery systems. Working knowledge of OEMs like Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, APC/Schneider, Mitsubishi, or Toshiba. Familiarity with NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and safe high-voltage work practices. Comfortable with oscilloscopes, clamp meters, and battery test sets, and actually know what “float voltage” should look like. Ability to interpret single-line diagrams and wiring schematics. Clean driving record and flexibility to travel within the Seattle metro and nearby regions. Prior military power systems, telecom DC, or data center experience is a plus. Seniority level
