Overview
Position: Budget Analyst – Fiscal & Legislative Budget Support for the Bureau of Budget Management.
Location: Tallahassee, FL.
Responsibilities
Assist the Bureau of Budget Management in managing assigned program’s budget and allotments throughout the fiscal year.
Review and approve documents presented to Budget Management, such as MFMP requisitions, contract documents, SERA invoices, personnel action forms, and expenditure reports; verify availability of Budget and Rate.
Develop an approved operating budget for the assigned Budget Entity by gathering estimates, communicating updates, and providing feedback to the Chief of Budget Management and CFO.
Monitor and analyze budget activity to ensure compliance with the General Appropriations Act and other authority limits; prepare external budget amendments and internal adjustments.
Prepare monthly budget/expenditure financial reports and rate reports for assigned budget entities and projects; meet with program management to review and recommend corrective action.
Prepare ad hoc analyses as requested.
Participate in the preparation of the Legislative Budget Request (LBR).
Monitor legislative activities; prepare bill analyses and analyze legislative proposals; assist with recapping session activities.
Respond professionally to requests, issues, and concerns raised by stakeholders regarding assigned budget entities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and procedures.
Knowledge of methods for reviewing and analyzing financial data.
Basic mathematics proficiency.
Ability to develop and recommend budgetary revisions.
Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial data.
Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to conduct detailed analysis and management critiques of budget requests.
Ability to assist in the preparation and examination of legislative budgets.
Ability to conduct financial management analysis.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Pay $53,917.08 – $70,000.00 (Pay Plan: SES)
Location Tallahassee, FL (relocation benefits are not available for this position)
