Advertised Job Summary

The faculty of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2026. The successful candidate will teach 2 courses per semester, including offerings at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as needed. They will also maintain an active research agenda, mentor and supervise students, and provide service to the Department, College, University, community, and discipline.

Required Education and Experience

The position requires a Ph.D. in criminology/criminal justice, or an earned doctorate in a closely-related social science discipline by the start of employment (ABDs considered). We are seeking candidates whose research addresses juvenile justice.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with demonstrated potential for external research funding are especially encouraged to apply.
