POSITION/JOB TITLE Strategic Sourcing Manager

DEPARTMENT Supply Chain

POSITION SUMMARY Contribute to world‑class sourcing processes and supply agreements. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will provide strategic direction for assigned categories of materials and services within SunCoke terminals and plants, and develop and execute sourcing strategies that generate cross‑functional value. This position is based in Lisle, Illinois. Value creation, supply chain savings, and operational improvements through effective contracting and supplier engagement are key objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and assist in managing key supplier relationships across the SunCoke enterprise, tracking KPIs developed by the Director of Procurement.

Follow industry standard of the 7‑step Strategic Sourcing methodology.

Provide category insight and depth of knowledge for assigned categories/commodities, and develop a proactive approach to commodity/category management.

Analyze commodity and service requirements, create RFPs, review and analyze bids, schedule supplier presentations, and present results to stakeholders.

Partner with the Line of Business (LOB) to establish and execute category strategies, providing insights, recommendations, and guidance based on evolving business needs.

Constructively challenge LOB to identify new value and process optimization opportunities.

Develop and manage contract portfolio to minimize risk exposure and capture benefits through process and contract language standardization.

Manage and maintain group data (agreements, project results, supplier communication, etc.).

Participate and lead key supplier meetings across SunCoke.

Act as a business partner and change agent to fully understand business needs and ensure buy‑in and successful implementation of Strategic Sourcing strategies.

Extensive travel expected – develop rapport and confidence with customers, SunCoke plants and terminals, and suppliers.

Provide mentorship to others into the SunCoke strategic sourcing process.

Perform category planning and stakeholder agreement to identify current and upcoming sourcing needs and compare to specific market conditions.

Lead supplier/SunCoke business reviews to insure accountability and compliance with agreements.

Manage supplier relationships, negotiate at a senior level, and serve as the lead in mediation/problem resolution.

Provide Procurement personnel across the SunCoke fleet with help developing project scope and key performance requirements that lead to successful project implementations and ongoing supplier relationships.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / WORK EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Science, or Engineering or ten+ years industrial experience with demonstrated accomplishments that drove operational and supply chain excellence.

A comprehensive background in procurement, supply chain, finance, manufacturing operations, management consulting, project management, and/or material sciences is beneficial. Ideal candidate will also have prior experience working in a steel mill, other process industry, or service centre environment.

Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

CERTIFICATIONS

Professional Procurement, Supply Chain certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, etc.) a plus.

Base pay $117,700 – $147,100 based on experience. Annual performance bonus target 15%.
