Founding / Lead Software Engineer, Backend & Data Platform Type

CTO / Co-founder or equivalent technical leader What You’ll Do
Architect, build, and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, and data infrastructure to support ingestion, transformation, and analytical workflows across multiple asset classes. Design data models, pipelines, and services to handle both structured and unstructured investment data. Collaborate directly with users, clients, or stakeholders to understand domain workflows, translate them into product requirements, and iterate on features. Shape and influence engineering culture, technical standards, roadmap, and hiring practices alongside founders and fellow engineers. Make system‑level decisions (e.g. data partitioning, consistency, fault tolerance, scaling) and lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code. If relevant, incorporate or experiment with AI / LLM‑based systems, agentic modules, or intelligent assistants as part of the product offering. What We’re Looking For
Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent) working at high‑growth startups or top technology firms. Technical skills: Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Python, Java, Go, or equivalent). Engineering fundamentals: Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, service‑oriented design, data modeling, and performance optimization. Data & infra: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure), caching (e.g. Redis), queueing or orchestration (e.g. Temporal, Kafka, etc.), and working with large‑scale data pipelines. Scalability & robustness: Ability to design systems for high throughput, fault tolerance, and maintainability. Domain curiosity: Interest in finance, investing, private markets, or working with complex domain data is a plus. Product & client orientation: Ability to engage with clients or stakeholders, translate domain problems into technical solutions, and iterate rapidly. Soft skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and a strong drive to build from first principles. Leadership potential: Capability to lead technical design decisions, mentor other engineers, and participate in hiring. Education
BS Degree in CS (From top CS programs) Nice to Have (Optional / Bonus)
Experience building or integrating with AI / LLM‑based systems or agentic frameworks. Domain experience in fintech, alternative investments, or capital markets.
