This full‑time, at‑will position acts as the key liaison between members of the DFL Caucus and their communications needs, serving as the primary point of contact for reporters, editors, and external organizations. The role reports to the Senior Advisor to the Leader and Director of Strategic Affairs and works in coordination with caucus leadership and staff to advance communications goals.

Responsibilities • Draft and circulate talking points and written materials for Leadership.

• Arrange press conferences and media availabilities.

• Represent the DFL Leadership at meetings with outside organizations, individuals, and media outlets including the Capitol press.

• Evaluate and implement media strategies to execute the strategic communications plan.

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications • Strong past communications experience with the ability to work well with leadership, caucus members, and staff.

• Knowledge of legislative and political process and government agencies.

• Demonstrated cultural competency and effective communication with diverse audiences.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word; experience with social media management tools, press databases, and spreadsheet or database applications is beneficial.

• Frequent public contact, strong communications and human relations skills, and willingness to work extended and non‑standard hours during the legislative session.

• Prior supervisory or team leadership experience, especially leading communications departments, including digital and social media communications, is a plus.

Compensation Annual salary range: $91,321 – $164,379, commensurate with relevant experience. Starting salary for an entry‑level position is generally between $91,321.92 and $100,454.16.
