Responsibilities

Work on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resources projects as they relate to water resources, transportation and development projects.

Work under the supervision of mid-level and senior environmental scientist and water resource engineers.

Take responsibility for assisting with environmental permits, NEPA documentation, biological assessments and other environmental compliance documentation.

Assist senior and mid-level scientists in field work associated with the collection of natural resource data.

Work on environmental planning, environmental assessments/impact analysis and associated permitting and compliance monitoring for transportation and other infrastructure projects that require conformance with state environmental reviews & National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Research and interpret scientific literature, regulatory programs, guidance, and applications.

Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, natural resources, land use, etc.

Assimilate and manage data, provide creative graphical representations of complex information.

Prepare constraints mapping.

Work with geographic positioning tools and information systems.

Support and manage projects which involve permitting, wetland and stream mitigation design, planning, documentation, etc.

Write, review, and edit work products.

With project team members in problem solving and solutions.

Conduct quality reviews for content, accuracy and completeness, meeting client and corporate standards.

Perform assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods, and coordinate with other team members and technical staff.

Coordinate with specialty sub consultants or consultant team members.

Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings.

Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance.

Assist with project schedules, have responsibility for tracking leading and delivering products and projects.

Interact with clients and agencies.

Support in business development and project pursuit roles.

Perform other related duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field.

1+ years transportation or development-related technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents which should include experience in wetlands/natural resources, permitting, planning, NEPA, MEPA, CEPA, SEQRA, Section 7, research and assessment of regulations, GIS applications.

Candidates who reside locally in the New England area and have New England experience are preferred.

Field experience skills preferred.

Wetland certifications preferred. CWS, PWS, WPIT etc.

Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field.

Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements.

Excellent writing and communication skills.

MS Office experience.
