Job Summary
The Construction Lead Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for activities of the mechanical supervision team relating to construction within the mechanical rotating equipment, centerline and HRSG discipline. In this role, you will manage the organization and direction of project construction activities and oversee the management including supervision of construction craft personnel, cost and schedule. Your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget.
Major Responsibilities
Manages the organization and direction of construction for all above rotating equipment, centerline equipment, HRSG, tanks and vessels.
Manages all mechanical activities including actions of Bechtel craft, subcontractors, and chemical cleaning activities.
Oversees management including supervision of other mechanical superintendents.
Manages area expenditures for labor equipment, material and services and ensures field operations are within the budget.
Establishes project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite.
Develops, implements, and administers a jobsite security plan and coordinates the activities with corporate security department Safety & Quality.
Planning
Reviews and monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
Reviews and approves where necessary, subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
Leads the mechanical equipment construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
Coordinates with other subcontractors and external stakeholders (or subcontractors) to plan construction schedules.
Reviews the project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
Safety/Quality
Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
Education and Experience Requirements Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Experience on combined cycle facilities is preferred.
Knowledge of rotating equipment, tanks & vessels, centerline equipment and HRSG installation preferred.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
Must have work authorization within the United States of America.
