The Office of Audit and Compliance (OAC) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a Senior Auditor. The
Office of Audit and Compliance
assists UVA’s Board of Visitors and University management in the discharge of their oversight, management, and operating responsibilities by providing independent assurance and consulting services to the University community.
The
Senior
Auditor
will conduct
value-added operational, financial, and compliance audits
, as well as
consulting projects.
Responsibilities
include performing engagement-level risk assessments, transaction testing, and analyzing business processes to
identify
opportunities to
improve
internal controls and the university’s operational and financial performance. Senior Auditors
play a key role in
an audit’s success,
perform
ing
essential duties to
ensure
high-quality
work that meets professional standards and
the
appropriate department
methodology
. Responsibilities Identify
and document significant risks, controls in place to mitigate
identified risks
,
along with
propose
d
testing approach
(es)
to develop a Risk Assessment Document. Recommend audit direction, scope, and timing to Audit management, based on Risk Assessment Document. Manage project to scope and deadlines.
Direct and perform first level review of the work of auditors assigned to projects, as applicable. Document and evaluate, through
appropriate testing
methods, the effectiveness of internal controls and operations. Prepare draft audit reports for Audit management’s review, communicating control or process efficiency and effectiveness based on testing performed. In collaboration with audit client(s), develop recommendations to correct deficiencies or to strengthen internal controls. Demonstrate and continue to build
expertise
in the functional discipline of internal auditing. Increase understanding (and relevance to audit) of trends in higher education, academic medical centers, and research-intensive universities. Continually strive to develop technical skills and data literacy/use of data analytics--and apply these to daily work and career progression. Respond to ad hoc inquiries and serve on committees as assigned. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field
is
required Two to three years in a staff auditor role with increasing responsibility
handling all phases of an audit independently

required Experience with
mentoring staff auditors
on
assigned audits

anticipated

Anticipated Hiring Range: $
90,000 - $110,000
commensurate
with education and experience
