Reporting to Senior Financial Analyst
Your role in the mission Type One Energy is seeking a Strategic Finance Associate who will play a key role in shaping and iterating the company’s long‑range financial plan to support our growth trajectory. You will drive forecasting, cash flow modeling, and scenario analysis while supporting budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic decision‑making.
In this role, you will serve as a bridge between finance, technical, and operational teams, ensuring alignment between financial goals and company objectives. You will also contribute to the commercialization roadmap, helping connect financial planning with market, technology, and IP strategies to support Type One’s long‑term vision.
This is a hands‑on, execution‑focused role for someone who thrives in fast‑paced environments and can seamlessly transition between detailed financial modeling and big‑picture strategic planning.
Lead the iterative development of the company’s long‑range financial plan (1yr, 3yr, 5yr horizons)
Develop and maintain financial and strategic models to support budgeting, forecasting, valuation, and roadmap planning
Build forward‑looking cash flow forecasts to assess sources and uses of funds across projects and corporate initiatives
Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform commercialization strategy and support strategic decision‑making
Integrate financial insights with technology and IP roadmaps to ensure alignment across commercialization, R&D, and investment priorities
Collaborate with Commercial Operations, IP, and technical teams to refine market segmentation, assess defensibility, and identify strategic opportunities or gaps
Prepare scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate capital allocation, financing, and partnership strategies.
Generate reports, dashboards, and presentations that distill complex insights into actionable recommendations for leadership and the board
Partner with Accounting and senior leadership to enhance FP&A processes, tools, and systems for scalability and strategic value
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related field; graduate degree a plus.
3–6 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, strategy, program management, or market analysis (startup or high‑growth environment preferred)
Experience managing budgets, analyzing programs, or supporting strategic decision‑making in technical or project‑based environments
Exposure to commercialization strategy, technology road mapping, market research, or IP planning.
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; ERP experience preferred
Ability to connect technical feasibility, financial performance, and market positioning into cohesive insights, and communicate them clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
Collaborative and effective across commercial, technical, and legal functions; structured thinker who thrives in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
