Description

The Administrative Office of the Courts is the operational arm of the Judicial Branch. The court systememploys nearly 3,300 personnel who support 406 elected justices, judges, and circuit court clerks.

The Department of Family and Juvenile Services has an immediate need for a Court Designated Specialist. Thisposition is in Jefferson County. The Court Designated Specialist will perform specialized intake work incases of youth deemed high needs or unsuccessful in the diversion process; to provide technical support andfeedback for CDWS and the judiciary on public and status cases.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Receives public and status offense complaints against juveniles. Arranges placements for juveniles taken into custody by law enforcement officers. Conducts preliminary inquiry on complaints filed against juveniles. Recommends formal processing or informal disposition. Formulates and supervises diversion agreements. Maintains records. Keeps statistical information. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: High School Diploma and three (3) years of job-related experience

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Job requires general knowledge of the concepts of youth delinquency and the juvenilejustice process; interpersonal communication and writing skills; ability to review and evaluate youth caseplans analytically and develop plans for improvement, experience in research and coordination of resources foryouth; participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Working Conditions

Typically, within an office setting.Statewide travel is required.On-call position that requires days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
