Essential Job Summary: We are seeking skilled Heavy Equipment Technicians who excel in performing inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on various heavy machinery, diesel trucks, and engines. As a technician, you'll be instrumental not only in maintaining our fleet but also in operating the machinery you repair. Occasionally, you may be on call to assist with urgent repairs.
Essential Job Functions: To be successful in this role, candidates should be able to perform the following duties:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy equipment, which includes yellow iron machinery, tractor trailers, forklifts, and diesel trucks.
- Conduct preventive maintenance services and scheduled repairs.
- Estimate costs on vehicle repairs and manage the requisition of parts.
- Perform safety inspections on vehicles.
- Document repairs and part usage accurately using fleet maintenance software.
- Address any issues noted in Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow technicians, sharing knowledge and assisting with larger projects as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications: Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- At least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Possession of a valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the sanitation or construction industry is advantageous.
- Familiarity with computer diagnostic tools for diesel engines.
- Knowledge of DPF systems diagnostics and relevant software.
- Adept understanding of applicable DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Proficient in reading and writing English for clear communication and documentation.
- Capability to fulfill the physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent movement.
- Must provide your own tools.
Work Environment:
- We invest continuously in modern equipment, ensuring our fleet is well-maintained.
- Work may involve potentially hazardous conditions, requiring constant attention to safety.
- Entry into loading/dumping areas will only be required during breakdowns.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to ensure safety.
- Frequent lifting and physical activity will be part of your daily tasks.
