SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Performs engineering work and coordinates a variety of engineering duties, focusing on mechanical design and equipment. Performs the planning and design of production machines, improving manufacturing methods, developing solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes or tooling. Supports new model launches by developing processes, designing secondary tooling or machinery, developing production controls to maintain cost effectiveness. Supports in the launch of new equipment and process development.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Able to perform in a team environment, working well with others, including production managers, process, tooling and industrial engineers, internal fabrication, maintenance, and process technicians.
  • Able to analyze production data for problems, accept input from others, identify root causes and develop cost effective solutions.
  • Designs and implements improvements to manufacturing processes, tools, fixtures, racks and machines and establishes work instructions to ensure maximum manufacturing capability.
  • Able to learn from the tooling engineer to be a backup in making electrodes using Unigraphics NX CADCAM and a CNC mill.
  • Provides detailed costs for purchase of new or revised equipment, including alternative options and comparisons to maintain optimum cost savings.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost within the manufacturing area.
  • Investigates and manages engineering changes to determine if the change meets customer requirements, standards, is feasible, is justifiable or accurate and recommends the change accordingly.
  • Develops process for FMEAs and Flow charts for new and revised programs.
  • Investigates and resolves customer concerns or problems related to manufacturing, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Experience: Two to four years of manufacturing experience. Additional experience education may be substituted for experience and vice versa.
  • 3D CAD Design experience. Unigraphics NX preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word
