Transform the future of reading education. At Alpha School, we’re redefining elementary reading through our groundbreaking 2‑Hour Learning model. We need an exceptional reading specialist to help us scale this innovation. Alpha isn’t just another private school. We fuse AI‑powered adaptive tools with expert instruction to deliver personalized, high‑impact literacy experiences. In this role you’ll design engaging, tech‑enhanced workshops, inspire young readers, and collaborate with engineers to refine the tools that power our model. Compensation
$60.00/hr ($120,000 per year, paid weekly). Day‑one health benefits, HSA/FSA, 401(k) Roth. Relocation support included. Contractor of Record with Crossover ( Crossover Job Code: LJ-5632-US-NewJerse-LiteracyProgra.001 ). Weekly pay period. Responsibilities
Deliver adaptive reading workshops that develop foundational skills in phonics, comprehension, and fluency. Design personalized motivational sessions that boost engagement through gamified literacy milestones. Analyze student progress data to continuously refine instruction and surface actionable insights. Collaborate with the tech team to evaluate and enhance AI literacy tools based on classroom results. Develop scalable content that personalizes reading pathways for diverse learners. What You Won’t Be Doing
Following a rigid scripted curriculum that ignores student needs or data. Spending hours on traditional lesson planning, grading, or administrative overhead. Working in overcrowded classrooms with limited resources. Managing behavior all day instead of focusing on reading instruction. Teaching in isolation without contributing to program or product development. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with advanced certification in reading instruction (Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson, or equivalent). At least 2 years of experience delivering small‑group reading interventions to early elementary students. Skilled at assessing reading levels, grouping students, and designing differentiated instruction without pre‑written curricula. Proficient with AI/adaptive learning tools and responsive to student behaviors within them. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Willingness to work on‑site at one of our campuses: Lake Forest (Orange County), CA; San Francisco, CA; Miami, FL; or New York City, NY. Location
