About the Role As

VP of Engineering , you will lead our product engineering organization from vision and architecture through delivery and operations. Reporting to the CEO, you will work closely with Product, Design, Customer Support, and other stakeholders to set strategy, build a high‑performance team, and deliver cutting‑edge AI‑powered products to a global audience.

What You’ll Own

Technical Leadership & Strategy

Define the technical roadmap and architecture for our product portfolio.

Make critical architecture and systems design decisions that ensure scalability, maintainability, security, and performance.

Stay current with technology trends and evaluate adoption opportunities.

Embed security and data privacy into our systems architecture and development practices.

Hands‑On Execution

Contribute to major technical components, algorithm design, post‑mortems, and occasionally code reviews.

Lead or participate in deep‑dives and architecture reviews for cross‑team initiatives.

Team Building, Mentorship & Management

Build, grow, and mentor engineering managers, leads, and senior engineers.

Recruit top talent, define hiring strategy, and oversee technical interviewing and onboarding.

Foster a culture of learning, code quality, ownership, psychological safety, and accountability.

Lead adoption of AI‑driven tools to drive productivity and maintain a modern engineering workflow.

Delivery & Operations

Oversee delivery cadence, manage technical debt, and drive operational excellence.

Set and monitor engineering KPIs (velocity, quality, uptime) and use data to drive improvements.

Maintain reliability, monitoring, logging, incident management, and disaster recovery processes.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Balance technical debt vs feature delivery with Product, Design, Sales, and Customer Support.

Represent engineering at the executive level, communicating tradeoffs, risks, and timelines.

Collaborate on budget, resource allocation, and technology investment decisions.

Share engineering excellence internally and externally through thought leadership and conference speaking.

Process, Governance & Scaling

Establish best practices for coding, testing, deployment, security, and operations.

Continuously evolve the engineering org structure to match company growth.

Success Metrics

Deliver on roadmap milestones with high quality and reliability.

Maintain architecturally sound, scalable systems with controlled technical debt.

Achieve healthy team attrition and strong manager pipeline.

Earn stakeholder trust in estimates, tradeoffs, and timelines.

Position engineering as a key partner in business decision‑making.

Who We’re Looking For

12+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years leading engineering managers or directors in fast‑paced environments.

Deep technical expertise: architecture, distributed systems, performance, security, infrastructure.

Proven hands‑on contributions at technical/architectural level.

Strong experience launching large‑scale products or component platforms.

Excellent leadership, mentoring, people‑management, and talent acquisition skills.

Strong communication, collaboration, and ability to simplify technical issues for executives.

Experience defining and using engineering metrics & KPIs for performance improvement.

Preferred / Nice‑to‑Haves

Scaling teams across multiple geographies.

Prior experience in SaaS or consumer tech.

Compensation & Benefits Linktree is committed to providing a fair and competitive compensation package including cash, equity, and benefits. Base salary targets $350,000‑$420,000 in San Francisco and Los Angeles, with final offers depending on location, experience, and role scope.
