Summary Of Role As a Materials and Processes Manager 2 within the Materials Analysis Organization you will be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. You will design and develop proprietary materials, support RCCA investigations through detailed failure analysis, evaluate and qualify materials used in hardware design, troubleshoot material failures, and select replacement materials as diminished material supply impacts hardware builds. Team engagement is a key focus of this role as is the ability to mentor, provide career guidance and coaching, and to lead others.

Roles And Responsibilities

Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.

Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic, and composite material specification and provide guidance on fabrication processes.

Develops test plans, performs analyses, and develops design allowables based on statistical industry standards.

Material analysis will include root cause and failure analysis of components systems, and subsystems.

Works collaboratively with various disciplines to identify opportunities for material development and engagement to support increased quality throughout the business.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience, master’s degree with 6 years of experience, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Active DoD Secret Clearance required.

8 years of experience with the management and use of laboratory equipment including SEM/EDS, FTIR, DSC, LFA, metallurgical sample preparation, Instron, and ICP.

5 years of demonstrated ability to lead and/or manage an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Analytical Chemistry or Materials Science.

Prior experience in a technical lead or management role.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to collaborate within a team and across team environments.

Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously to accomplish the project result.

Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

Ability to lead an engineering or cross-functional team.

Working knowledge of polymers, adhesives, ceramics, thermal interface material, and/or aluminum properties and characteristics and the process and execution of failure analysis.
