Position Summary The Chief Engineer will oversee all radio transmission of our signal along with our broadcast and recording studios. This includes maintaining our 11 transmitter locations, 4 studio locations and other various properties. Studio responsibilities include quality of signal for the entire signal path from studios to over-the-air and digital streams, including 24/7/365 on call responsibilities for these signal paths. Building facilities and utilities are managed by this position including HVAC systems, roofing, plumbing, locks and security. This position is also responsible for all FCC compliance issues. This position reports to the Director of IT and Engineering and works with a team of technical co-workers to create, maintain and repair systems.

Sign-On Bonus

$7,000 within 30 days of your hire date and

$3,000 12 months after hire date

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in the engineering discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from a four-year college and ten (10) years progressive experience in the maintenance and repair of radio production, broadcasting, computer, and transmitter systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

FCC General Class License and/or minimum SBE Certification of ‘Broadcast Engineer’ preferred.

Experience and knowledge of older generation equipment.

Experience managing a budget

Special Physical/Mental Requirements This work will require the ability to operate hand or power tools as needed and there is some climbing of ladders to conduct installation inspections. Fine motor skills are also necessary in the repair or inspection of equipment.
