Senior Technical Writer At PGE, we are committed to delivering clean energy solutions. We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer to develop and maintain policy and procedural documentation across the organization.

Key Job Information Grade: 6-7. Intermediate to Senior level. The role requires expanded professional-level knowledge and experience in technical writing and corporate communication.

Compensation: $74,325 – $148,625 (depending on level and experience).

Responsibilities

Analyze user needs and design process documentation to meet business objectives.

Proactively assess policies and compliance requirements, developing initiatives to ensure process documentation complies.

Lead initiatives with multiple stakeholders to define optimal documentation methods.

Work with stakeholders to articulate processes clearly and effectively.

Create, revise, and publish specifications, standards, work practices, and procedural documentation on established deadlines.

Ensure documents meet client needs and align with corporate style guide.

Maintain content on various platforms.

Standards or Procedures Consultation

Serve as a subject‑matter expert on technical writing for the department.

Provide best‑practice guidance for clear, concise, accurate communication.

Review draft content for accuracy, consistency with style guidelines.

Negotiate with stakeholders to resolve complex conflicts in content.

Develop and maintain style guidelines.

Design, prepare, and present training on format and content changes.

Support development of training manuals and materials.

Proactively identify needs and present technical writing knowledge as required.

Document Control

Consult on document control methods.

Archive and track documents.

Compile documents and develop indices and tags for searchability.

Research and analyze retention requirements, ensuring compliance.

Manage or oversee document control system (e.g., SharePoint).

Other Duties and Special Projects

Administer contracts for outside technical writers.

Provide guidance to vendors or contractors on style guidelines.

Serve as subject‑matter expert on projects.

Lead cross‑functional process on document‑related projects.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, journalism, or related field.

2+ years in technical writing or corporate communications with a technical element (Technical Writer).

5+ years in technical writing or corporate communications with a technical element (Senior Technical Writer).

Preferred:

Experience or education in a technical field.

Experience writing procedures or policies for compliance programs.

Advanced experience creating and maintaining Word templates with style sets and content structure.

SharePoint administrator with advanced knowledge of content types, Term Store, and Power Automate integration.

Physical Capabilities

Driving/travel/commute: Daily within service territory.

Computer use: Regular use of computer.

Office: Onsite or Hybrid.

Field Environment: Occasionally.

Plant Environment: Occasionally.

Compensation Range $74,325 – $148,625.
