Job Summary Reporting to and partnering with the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services and Donor Relations, the Associate Director of Donor Relations is a strategic and hands‑on professional responsible for implementing and managing comprehensive donor relations and stewardship initiatives across Morgan State University.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute donor relations and stewardship initiatives aligned with University fundraising priorities.

Serve as a change agent to enhance donor recognition, engagement, and stewardship practices.

Collaborate with gift officers to create customized stewardship plans for donors and prospects.

Build and maintain strong cross‑functional relationships to support consistent donor engagement and communications.

Draft, edit, and manage donor communications, including acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and personalized updates.

Partner with the Advancement Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.

Produce accurate endowment and scholarship fund reports for donors in collaboration with Foundation Operations and campus partners.

Coordinate the awarding and reporting of scholarships and designated program funds to ensure alignment with donor intent and institutional priorities.

Collect and compile student and program stories for inclusion in donor reports.

Provide guidance and support to Development officers and other campus stakeholders on fund stewardship practices.

Coordinate and implement donor recognition events, dedications, and other stewardship‑related activities in collaboration with Advancement colleagues.

Develop innovative strategies to enhance donor experiences and demonstrate the impact of giving.

Maintain accurate donor records and stewardship tracking in the CRM system.

Monitor, track, and report on donor engagement and stewardship activities.

Identify and recommend improvements to processes to enhance operational efficiency and donor experience.

Education Requested minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, marketing, or related field required.

Experience 5+ years of experience in donor relations, stewardship, advancement, or related nonprofit/higher education role.

Skills and Preferences

Demonstrated ability to combine strategic thinking with hands‑on project management.

Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.

Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail.

Experience with donor database systems and stewardship tracking tools preferred.

Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and represent the University professionally.
