Description

Under supervision, responsible for programming, operation, and maintenance of all hardware and software (Wonderware, Rockwell RS Logic-5 & 500, RS Linx, GE-Faunc VersaPro, Intellution, Kepware, Ion Enterprise & Vista, Excel and Access).

Programming, operation, and maintenance of all subnetworks, network hardware and connections for Central Utility Plant communications.

Programming in Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Server 20XX, Visual Basic, HVAC Pro, GX 9100 Ladder Logic, M-Tools & M5 Graphics, Intellution & Kepware, I – Historian, Rockwell RSLogic 5,500 and RSLinx, Versa Pro, TCP/IP Internet Protocol, NetBUI, ArcNet, Windows variants (DOS, NT 98 & XP).

System global programming, uploads, downloads, and implementation of all software and hardware upgrades for the Wonderware SCADA system, BOP system, Power Monitoring and CUP data gathering computers and communications.

Archive data from all global programming, graphics, scheduling, historical files, trend files, totalization files, alarm files and operator transaction files. Maintain system-wide security and password protection for the Wonderware SCADA system, BOP system, Power Monitoring System and CUP data gathering systems.

Programming, operation, and maintenance of all hardware and software related to the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System.

Support annual testing on all APCD monitored equipment, including boilers and gas turbines.

Provide technical support to CUP and campus personnel and outside contractors when encountering problems with the existing Wonderware SCADA system and all controls devices in the Central Utility Plant (VFDs, starters, IO modules, communications modules, control instrumentation devices and HMIs).

Programming, operation, repair or replacement and preventative maintenance of all controls devices and power generation instrumentation, control systems and electrical equipment in the Central Utility Plant both locally and at remote plant sites.

Assist in directing contracted vendors and resolving questions regarding services performed.

Non-watch standing position.

Effective oral, written and electronic communication.

Adhere to safety and operational policies and procedures.

Compliance with building code regulations.

Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of Central Utility, Cogeneration Plant systems, pumps, piping, electronic and pneumatic controls.

Knowledge of test procedures for system operations and ability to determine repair needs.

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and system diagrams. Substantial knowledge of engineering fundamentals.

Effective verbal, written and electronic communication skills and service‑oriented work ethic.

Experience in a Central Utility Plant, Combined Cycle or Cogeneration Power Plant or related industrial environment.

Strong electrical and electronic principles knowledge.

Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).

Some experience tuning and troubleshooting GE Fanuc and Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers.

Experience with electrical and instrumentation aptitude for industrial equipment used in Cogeneration Power Plant.

Comprehensive experience with power plant equipment operation.

Experience in data analysis using MS Office products, email, and Internet.

Experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) tuning; control loop troubleshooting and design.

Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical process drawings and P&ID's.

Excellent teamwork and communication with coworkers, supervisors and contractors.

Ability to work alone or with help to diagnose and correct electrical, instrumentation and controls problems.

Experience documenting processes: work orders reports & work history, cost tracking, parts usage, labor costs and job procedures.

Experience with object‑oriented programming of SCADA/DCS, including writing or modifying programs.

Understanding of control loops and relay logic. Experience tuning PID and control loops.

Special Conditions

Physical ability to perform essential job functions with ability to move through limited access spaces and cover distances on foot to widely separated work sites.

May be assigned overtime, alternate shift, weekend or emergency call‑back hours as necessary. DOJ/FBI Background check and clearance required prior to hire.

Must have reliable transportation and/or a valid California Class C Driver License to operate UC vehicles and must participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $120,603 - $120,603 (prorated if appointment percent less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $57.76 - $57.76
