Your Role at PFX Our Torrance site, California, USA, Plant is looking for a self-motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented EHS Specialist to be part of our growing team. Reporting to the Corporate Director, Environment Health Safety, the EH&S Specialist implements and oversees Environmental, Health and Safety Corporate programs and maintains compliance with Federal, State and Company regulations.

This position has oversight of the Torrance site in California and will be fully on-site Monday-Friday with potential for multiple shift coverage. The expected compensation for this position is an annual salary of $85,000-$90,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Environmental, Health and Safety Responsibilities

In line with the corporate strategy, the Specialist implements, manages, and maintains the PFX Group Environmental, Health and Safety programs in accordance with corporate programs, all legal and regulatory compliance requirements.

Reports on strategic Key Performance Indicators and trends while implementing mitigation plans.

Maintains current knowledge of OSHA, EPA & DOT regulations and communicates OSHA regulatory information to management.

Develop cross‑functional partnerships to drive initiatives and leverage internal resources.

Leads the systems and processes to identify all Hazards associated with all our operations and then implements the appropriate Hazard controls to mitigate risk.

Conducts EH&S reviews of new products, chemicals and processes entering the facilities and implements new Hazard control systems.

Ensure all products are labeled and follow GHS and SDS standards.

Ensures site has all required PPE on hand and the PPE is up to date.

Implement and lead the EHS Program to improve safety, minimize occupational health and safety risks and ensure a safety‑first culture at all levels of the organization.

Implements the necessary EH&S audit/inspection program for our operation and then conducts EH&S audits/inspections and follows up on corrective actions with departments.

Coordinates incident reporting and injury/illness recordkeeping for facility.

Administers EH&S training programs required for our operation and tracks/keeps record of our training log.

Provides and ensures training is completed for all employees, visitors, and contractors.

Develops and leads communication of EH&S program, requirements, updates, issues, and progress to Corporate and stakeholders as necessary.

Provides day‑to‑day support and engagement with site personnel in executing assigned safety programs and projects.

Responsible for accident prevention through safety audits, implementing and managing safety committees and teams, monitoring safety metrics, leading safety toolbox talks, providing education and training, etc.

Leads, coordinates, and provides ongoing development to ensure the organization is prepared in the case of an emergency.

Key leader for development of emergency response plans and programs; key leader for emergency response team (ERT).

Develops program to manage and maintain SDS for our operation: Raw materials, Maintenance and Supply chemicals and Manufactured products; Internal Notification and Customer Distribution.

Maintains EH&S related documents and records.

Other duties as assigned.

Regulatory Responsibilities

Maintains current knowledge of OSHA, EPA & DOT regulations and communicates OSHA regulatory information to management.

Works with Corporate compliance team to develop and implement the necessary programs to ensure that the sites is in compliance with all required regulatory requirements.

Assists with regulatory inspections/sampling/reports/submittals and permitting for facility (i.e., storm water, wastewater, air, nose, TRI, Tier II reports).

Key liaison for regulatory inspections.

Maintains regulatory related documents and records.

Develop cross‑functional partnerships to drive initiatives and leverage internal resources.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety or related field

5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role

Strong collaboration experience – ability to work in a team environment

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
